Biodiversity is one of the cornerstones of humanity’s future, and protecting it should be everyone’s top priority. That’s why this year we supported a nationwide primary school competition to promote biodiversity called The Great Regional Search / Helping Scientists.

The aim was to map the occurrence of butterflies in different regions of Slovakia in order to assess the state of the environment. The activity brought together primary school children and scientists from the Slovak Academy of Sciences to get an overview of the occurrence of these insects across the country.

The competition was organised by the Nitra organisations OZ Požičaná planéta, Dive 2000 production, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics of the University of Science and Technology in Nitra, in cooperation with and under the professional auspices of the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

The results of the competition were announced this week at the Day for the Planet event, a festival of sustainable living. And this great event once again brought together experts and students to share knowledge and help improve environmental protection.

It is this rising generation that has the future of our planet on its shoulders. Only through their sustainable lifestyles and the protection of nature can we build a green future together.

So let’s think (eco)logically.
